Auditions

What do WTCC/WTYC Students Gain?

WTCC/WTYC members receive a lot for their investment of time, energy, and  tuition. For less than the cost of voice lessons, students not only receive voice lessons from a recognized degreed professional, they also receive sight-reading training, harmony ear-training, and educational performance opportunities. They are taught an advanced part-singing  method and regularly use a method book. They have opportunities to learn commitment, teamwork, and how to work hard toward specific worthy goals. They gain a sense of group belonging to an elite and special group of talented children, building associations that can last a lifetime. Many former WTYC students are now receiving top music awards and scholarships.

Requirements

Talent alone is not enough for the success of a choral program of this calibur. Being disciplined and keeping commitments is an integral part of the success of the WTCC/WTYC. Auditions are held to select participants. It lasts about an hour, and includes tuition information and further details. Auditions are handled in a positive way in all cases. A limited number of children are taken to keep class sizes small.

Fund Raisers

Fund-raising for WTYC tours is available to those who desire to do so. We have also received airfare from Northwest Airlines, and donations from Federal Express, International Paper, Kiwanis of Germantown, and other community donors as well as discounts from local retail stores.

Rehearsal Schedule

Students meet after school twice per week on two of four rehearsal days at the Cordova Center, Sanga Road. Although absences are not treated casually, some flexibility and opportunities to make rehearsals up can be arranged with proper advance notice so that the integrity of the program is maintained.

If this sounds like a commitment that you and your child are willing to make, you may contact Martha Wright at 901-753-3918 for further details and audition times. Or fill out and submit the information with the electronic form below.
