| | Christin Yates, a six year alumni graduate of the WTYC has
gained many honors and accolades since leaving the WTYC. Her experiences with
the WTYC and her pursuits since graduating from the choir follows.
Christin Yates is currently a senior Public Relations major at
Murray State University where she recently completed a minor in vocal music and
maintains a 4.0 cumulative GPA. Among many other campus
organizations, she is a member of the Murray State University Concert
Choir and the University Chorale. Since leaving the West Tennessee
Youth Chorus, Christin has continued her musical
endeavors by teaching both piano and voice lessons, cantoring
at her church, playing for various functions at Murray State,
accompanying voice students and choirs, and singing in weddings. In 2003,
Christin was crowned the National American
Miss Talent winner and 2nd Runner-up for National All-American Teen in
Anaheim, CA. She credits much of her personal success to the
instruction she received from the West Tennessee Youth Chorus. Following
graduation, Christin hopes to attend law school and
pursue a career in the music business industry.

August 2006 Update
Christin Yates recently graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 GPA from
Murray
State University with a B.S. in Public Relations and a minor in vocal
music. Although she completed her degree in just three years, Christin was
very involved on campus. Among many other campus organizations, she was a
member of the Murray State Concert Choir and the University Chorale. Christin
was named second runner-up in the 2006 Miss Murray State Scholarship Pageant
and was also selected for the 2005 Murray State Homecoming Court.
Christin proposed a Music Business curriculum for the university, which may
eventually become an accredited degree program. Since leaving the West
Tennessee Youth Chorus, Christin has continued her musical endeavors by
teaching piano and voice lessons, acting as song leader at her church, playing
piano for various functions at Murray State, accompanying voice students and
choirs, as well as singing and playing piano in weddings. In 2003, Christin
was crowned National American Miss Talent and 2nd runner-up for National
All-American Teen in Anaheim, CA. She credits much of her personal success to
the instruction she received from the West Tennessee Youth Chorus. Christin is
currently pursuing her Master’s Degree in Mass Communications at Murray
State University on a full scholarship and plans to begin a career in Music
Business upon graduation.
